Dentistry for Anxious Patients
With sedation dentistry, our St Clair Shores Sedation dentist can treat even the most anxious patients and often accomplish dental work in one or two visits that may have required many more visits without it.
Sedation with nitrous oxide (laughing gas) decreases anxiety and promotes relaxation while you remain conscious. Nitrous oxide and oxygen are mixed together and then inhaled through a mask that covers the nose and mouth prior to having a dental procedure performed to produce relaxation, and a state of overall comfort. Safe, effective, and non-invasive, nitrous oxide is the sedation method of choice for anxious or fearful patients.
On occasion we give oral sedatives to also help relax the nervous patient.
Visit our St Clair Shores Sedation Dentistry page for more information or contact our office.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-Rays eliminate the inconvenience and environmental impact associated with disposal of conventional film developers. The digital images (X-Rays) are also immediately available for viewing.
Soft Tissue Laser
We use laser for soft tissue for periodontal therapy.
Snap-On Smiles
Snap-On Smile is a patented, easy and painless way to obtain a beautiful smile. It was invented by a dentist who realized that not everyone can afford thousands of dollars to get a Hollywood smile make-over. After years of extensive research and development, your dentist can now provide you with a Snap-On Smile that is thin and strong with the look of natural teeth. You can eat and drink with your Snap-On Smile. It’s available for upper and lower teeth. It is a temporary solution.
Sterilization & Patient Safety
Our office uses state of the art sterilization to ensure patient safety. Sterilization and disinfection are the basic steps in instrument processing and surface asepsis. Sterilization refers to the use of a physical or chemical procedure to destroy all forms of microorganisms, including the highly resistant spores.
We use Rapid Steam Autoclave at 275ºF (35psi), for 15-20 minutes.
First, the instruments are prepared for the sterilization process. The instruments are placed in a water dentazyme solution in the ultrasonic unit where they are vibrated for 15 minutes. Then the instruments are rinsed, dried, placed in self sealing sterilization pouches and sterilized in the autoclave. When the process is complete each bag has an indicator to help verify that the sterilization process is complete. Instruments which cannot be heat sterilized are immersed in 2{c5fe17f9cc0045b68b17be392fc9aba65f0c7db44b5fcda6780914763e1a9059} glutaraldehyde for 10 hours to cold sterilize.
We biologically monitor our sterilizer once a week to ensure complete sterilization using spore strips and keep accurate records for our monitoring. These strips are enclosed in a glassine envelope and processed through the sterilizer. They are then sent to the University of Detroit –Mercy Dental School spore testing center where they are tested for live spores.
Kavo Diagnodent
It is a diagnostic laser that helps in our detection of dental decay.
